GMR's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, adjudged as the 3rd Best Airport in India at SKYTRAX - World Airport Awards, 2012

Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has been declared to be India's 3rd Best Airport, 2012 by airline customers at the SKYTRAX World Airport Awards held at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Vienna yesterday.

The World Airport Awards are the most prestigious recognition of quality for airports across the world, based on the annual SKYTRAX airport passenger satisfaction survey, covering 388 airports from over 160 countries in 2012. The Awards are the global benchmark of airport excellence and Quality ranking, and Guaranteed for their total independence.

The Airport Customer survey by SKYTRAX measures satisfaction across a range of 39 service and product Key Performance Indicators that track the customer experience at each airport, for departing, arriving and transit passengers in the areas like Getting to & from Airport / Accessibility, Public transportation options, Taxi availability / prices , Availability of luggage trolleys (airside & landside), Terminal comfort, ambience & general design / appearance , Terminal cleanliness, Seating facilities throughout terminal(s) and Waiting times - at Security etc. RGIA has always been recognized for their world class service quality which also is evident from the ASQ Award that the airport won recently as World’s 3rd Best Airport in the 5-15 million passengers per annum category, rated by ACI International.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Vikram Jaisinghani, CEO-GHIAL, said, “An airport’s foremost responsibility is to improve facilities for passengers and offer them a convenient and comfortable transit. World Airport Awards which are voted by air travellers, shows a remarkable confidence by airline travellers in standards being delivered at RGIA. Mentionably, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) also led by the GMR Group has won twin accolades by SKYTRAX – World Airport Awards, 2012 as the World's Most Improved Airport and Number 1 Airport in India. To add, last year’s 1st Best Airport Bangalore International Airport finished in 2nd place, Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport (Mumbai) was in 4th place with Chennai International Airport securing 5th place for airports on the sub-continent.
