• Equipped with safety features like Panic Button, SHE Cabs are GPS enabled and connected with Police Control Room

Committed towards women safety and comfort, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL) has actively partnered in the ongoing initiative of Government of Telangana State for empowerment of women and safety of women passengers by introducing SHE Cab facility for them at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA). At a formal event organised today at the airport, Mr. SGK Kishore, CEO, GHIAL along with Mr. CV Anand (IPS), Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, handed over the identity cards to the female drivers and flagged off the SHE Cabs at the airport.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. SGK Kishore, CEO, GHIAL said, “Hyderabad Airport is delighted to partner in the noble initiative of SHE Cabs Scheme which the Govt. of Telangana has taken up for empowerment of women and safety of women passengers. Safety and security of passengers at the airport are our prime concern and we are always ready to go the extra mile for this. We thank Telangana State Transport Department, the Society for Cyberabad Security Council and RGI Airport Traffic Division in materializing this initiative at the airport. SHE Cabs have various safety features in place and I’m sure this service will be very popular with the women passengers, especially those who are traveling alone.”

Since the introduction of SHE Cab scheme by the Transport Department of Telangana State in September 2015, RGIA has actively supported the initiative and partnered with the Transport Department by providing all assistance in inducting SHE Cabs in Pre-paid taxi fleet at the airport. As of now, there will be 10 SHE cabs operating out of the airport. These taxis will be available round the clock. Women passengers will be able to book SHE Cab at the Traffic Police Pre-paid Booth at the airport. Only women passengers or passengers travelling with at least one woman traveler will be able to avail this women special cab services. The SHE Cabs are connected to Police Control Room through GPS and are equipped with a panic button as a safety feature.
