GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) and Novotel Hyderabad Airport, in association with the Heritage Car Club of Andhra Pradesh (HCCAP) will be organizing a Vintage Car Rally and Exhibition, from 9am onwards, on Sunday, 22nd March, 2009 at the Novotel Hyderabad Airport, located just three kilometers away from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).
Many cars from the vintage era which have been passionately maintained by their owners, will participate in the rally. It will begin with a display of classic and vintage cars till 8 pm at Novotel Hyderabad Airport. An interactive session will be held in the morning, where the car owners will be educated on restoration, sourcing of parts, etc., and they will be guided on how to further improve and maintain their cars to world class standards. Later in the afternoon, a 50 km drive each way, will be flagged off from the hotel onto the new 4 lane highway to Bangalore, and the cars will return by 4 pm.
Speaking about the rally Mr. A. Viswanath, Chief Commercial Officer of GHIAL said “We are very happy to associate with this event. The passionate car owners spend a lot of time and money to get their cars ready for such events. It will be a good Sunday outing for not only the car owners but also for the visitors who will come to see these well maintained vintage beauties.
“The Novotel Hyderabad Airport is providing a special 20 per cent discount on food and beverages, at their restaurants, the Square and Haldi, exclusively for visitors at the Vintage Car Rally.”
Speaking on the occasion Dr.I.Venkat Rao President of HCCAP said, “Vintage events are different from other forms of motorsport. To a layman, these cars may not count much. But for a car conservator, they create an entirely different world, a world of automobile legacy, a world of vintage and classic cars, which have been the heartthrobs for their owners of not only the bygone era but also those who cherish them even today as a proud possession”.
